Major... major...

Last August 23, the Miss Universe 2010 was held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S. People stopped for a while to watch the pageant on TV. It was Tuesday morning here in the Philippines when it was shown on air. Filipinos were reunited again to support our very own candidate, Ms. Venus Raj.

People around the globe were so excited to see the result of the competition. I can hear them talking about it no matter where I go. Some friends also sent me text messages to keep me informed on what was going on. Thank God, Venus had managed herself to be included in the Top 5! For us, that is already a big honor.
After a while, my husband sent me a message that Venus ended up as 4th runner up. He said it might be because of her answer to the final “Question and Answer portion”. Since then, I heard a lot of comments and reactions on how Venus answered it. News was spreading everywhere and her “major major” answer became the talk of the town. As soon as I got home, I watched the video from the net. Like what others said, I agree that the question is a bit personal and it is hard to answer such on the spot. Well, I feel so proud of Venus. She brought pride to our country, Philippines.

The question was… “What is one big mistake that you’ve made in your life and what did you do to make it right?”

Hmm… in my case, what do you think will be my answer? It could be like this… “I believe that everybody commits mistake and I believe in the saying that “nobody is perfect”. I can say that in my 25 years of existence, I had committed a lot of mistakes already. Please pardon me if I am not going to disclose them in public as they are too private and personal. But what I did to make them right really matters. First, I learned to I accept that I was wrong because you can’t consider it as mistake if in your own point of view, you still don’t believe that what you did was wrong. I learned to face all the consequences of my action.. and most of all.. I tried to avoid committing the same mistake again. For me, once you commit mistake, it is already there. It is already written in your own history and no matter what you do, you can’t change what you have already done.. You just have to face it, accept it, and show that you are sincere in correcting it by not doing the same thing over again”

How about you? If you are to answer the same question, what will you say?
